Christian D Larson (1874-1954) wrote this in his book, Just Be Glad.
“Whatever you are, or whatever has happened, just be glad. Be glad because you are here. You are here in a beautiful world; and all that is beautiful may be found in this world . . . Just be glad, and you will always be glad. You will always have better reason to be glad. You will have more and more things to make you glad. For great is the power of sunshine, especially human sunshine. It can change anything, transform anything, remake anything, and cause anything to be become as beautiful as itself. Just be glad and your fate will change; a new life will begin and a new future will dawn for you.”
Human sunshine—how true. These past three months as I have gone through the healing process with my 90 year old mother’s broken hip—for the most part—she is human sunshine. Most all the people who have worked with her in a skilled nursing facility are amazed by her human sunshine—her gladness, her positive attitude. Her hip has healed and she is walking again. I am glad and have much gratitude for her positive attitude, her human sunshine showing me what it can do.
