Our increased awareness of the importance of water over the last couple decades has improved our collective health immensely. This new desire to get enough water is also causing all sorts of environmental problems. Bottled water is the culprit. Bottled water is the second most popular beverage sold in the US, second only to carbonated soft drinks. The effects of this surge of bottled water is illustrated in  the infographic below.
